beforeUdig represents Utilities and similar organisations (members) wishing to protect their underground assets and offer contractors, excavators and anyone else contemplating any form of excavation, a ^*FREE service to advise if and where underground assets may be located in the vicinity of their proposed works.

Each enquiry lodged generates a notification to any affected member (the ^#Asset Owner), with specific information supplied by the enquirer about the intended works. The enquirer receives a confirmation of the dig-site information they have supplied and a list of beforeUdig Utility members which may have assets in and around the intended dig-site site.

beforeUdig members who have an interest in the proposed dig-site will contact the enquirer with information on how they wish to manage the dig-site, within approximately two business days of the enquiry lodgement date.

The beforeUdig service aims to:-

• Reduce the incidence of personal injuries
• Protect underground assets from interruption and preventable damage
• Provide a single point request for information on the proposed dig-site and the presence of any underground assets – one stop shop

* Whilst it is free to use the beforeUdig service to gather information on the possible presence of underground assets in and around your proposed excavation site, to request plans and locate services, some Utilities and Local Government Organisations may charge to supply these services. Please check with the relevant asset owners listed on your confirmation sheet if you require more information on these possible charges
